Azerbaijani (Azerbaycanca, Azerbaycan türkçesi or 'Azərbaycan dili in Azerbaijani) is a language belonging to the Turkic Language Family [see], spoken primarily in Azerbaijan and Northern Iran.


Vowel Harmony[edit]

minor = <A> = a / ə

i.e. Plural

top + l<A>r = toplar

dil + l<A>r = dillər

major = <Ü> = i / ı ü / u

Noun[edit]

  1. Noun in Azerbaijani has number but no gender.


Plural[edit]

Plural is made adding the suffix l<A>r directly to the stem of the noun, the suffix l<A>r follows minor vocalic harmony:

Adjective[edit]

Adjectives precede their noun and do not agree in number:
