Kazakh to English

Verbs that translate as "be" ADJ

  • (kaz) сусап жатырмын → I'm thirsty
  • (kaz) өте/әбден сусап жатырмын → I'm super thirsty
  • (kaz) сусап кеттім → I got thirsty
  • (kaz) сусаймын → I get thirsty / I will be thirsty
  • (kaz) жаурап жатырмын → I'm cold
  • (kaz) жаурап кеттім → I got cold
  • (kaz) жаураймын → I get cold / I will be cold
  • (kaz) қуанып жатырмын → I'm happy
  • (kaz) қуанып кеттім → I got happy
  • (kaz) қуанамын → I get happy / I will be happy

Normal(?) apertium approach:

  1. translate verb as multiword (суса = be<v><b>thirsty<adj>)
  2. fix tags of "be" in transfer

New appraoch:

  1. translate verb as adjective (суса- = thirsty<adj>)
  2. define class of beAdjVerbs
  3. insert be<v> before beAdjVerbs
  4. transfer rules to get tags from beAdjVerb to new be<v>

Verbs that translate as "get" ADJ

  • (kaz) қызарып жатыр → It's getting red
  • (kaz) қызарып кетті → It got red


Not working correctly in current kaz-eng regression

  • (kaz) онымен. → with him.
  • (kaz) сізбен. → with you.
