Specific questions

Pronouns and determiners

A frequent question[1] we get is "What is the difference between a pronoun and a determiner? You tag 'that' as four parts of speech: conjunction, demonstrative pronoun, demonstrative determiner and relative. I get the first and the last, but not the other two."

The simplest way to explain this is to give two example sentences,

a) Show me that card.
b) Give me that.

Notes

  1. Yes, really!
