Why is it you are interested in machine translation?

I trust that machine interpretation is a standout amongst the most critical zones for humankind by giving individuals chance to share learning in different dialects. Particularly, later on I am intending to take a shot at machine interpretation of lesser-realized dialects so as to give those language users a chance to secure comparative measure of learning as prominent language holders.

Why is it that you are interested in the Apertium project?

Apertium offers favorable circumstances for me to provide something valuable for my Karakalpak linguistics. Established on the standards of saving society and legacy through language, Apertium interfaces the domains of the antiquated and present day through advances in machine interpretation stages.

Which of the published tasks are you interested in? What do you plan to do?

Adopt a new language pair: Tatar - Karakalpak. Both languages belong to the group Kipchak languages. This nations are close to each other through its historical and cultural heritages. Moreover, I am profoundly interested in classical tatar literature especially the works of Gabdulla Tuqay.

Title

Adopting an unreleased language pair of Tatar -> Karakalpak languages.

Reasons why Google and Apertium should sponsor it

Because this project stimulates the prevalence of Karakalpak language as the number of native speakers are diminishing extensively. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor’s degree on program engineering. I have a legitimate information and involvement with improvement in Python, C++, Kotlin and xml.

A description of how and who it will benefit in society

Firstly, it would be a great help to Karakalpak language speakers, due to UNESCO it’s status considered as vulnerable. The reason for its lower status is that not enough attention is being given to the projects in Karakalpak language. According to statistics, Tatar language is the second popular language in Russia after russian language. Thus, my project of developing Tatar -> Karakalpak dictionary will help majority of people and it assumed to be in high demand among users.

List your skills and give evidence of your qualifications

I am on the 3th year of Bachelor’s degree in Programm Engineering at the Tashkent University of Information Technology named after Muhammad Al-Khwarizmi. My native language is Karakalpak [Kaa] and I know Tatar language on a good level too, mainly due to their similarity. Programming skills: C, C++, Java, Python, git and xml.

List any non-Summer-of-Code plans you have for the Summer

I have no non-GSoC plans for the summer and can contribute from 30 to 40 hours a week. However, my school finishes in the middle of June. Therefore, if it is fine I would like to work ~ 20 hours in the first month and in the 2nd & 3rd months I will work ~ 50 hours per week in order to compensate.
