Apertium is a rule-based machine translation platform. The project started in 2005 with three pairs for the Romance languages of Spain, and has since expanded to include 7 other language pairs (with more in development). Unlike many big machine translation efforts, Apertium tries to focus on: 1) Languages which are related, 2) Languages which are not well served by current systems, and for which there are few resources (e.g. no parallel corpora). |
