New page

* (sv) Här är en liten bok, som jag skrivit i sommar → Her er en lille bog, som jeg skrev i sommers

''Why is the supine ("skrivit") used as past tense? Isn't it supposed to be either "jag skrev" or "jeg har skrivit" - rather the former?''
When so employed in Swedish, the neuter of the past
participle is called the Supine. In the Strong Conjugation,
i is substituted for e in the neuter of the past participle
when used in this way. The endings of the supine are
accordingly in weak verbs (I) -a/, (II) -/, (III) -//, and
in the Strong Conjugation -it.

182. OMISSION OF THE AUXILIARY. In dependent clauses
the auxiliary is very often omitted in the present per-
fect and past perfect, the supine alone being used 6 (see
191, i). The context shows whether the supine
has present perfect or past perfect meaning. Ex.: "Har
ar en liten bok, som jag skrivit i sommar". Here is a
little book that I have written this summer. Jag trodde,
att han trbttnat. I thought he had grown tired. Nar
