While Marathi classifies nouns into three genders (masculine, feminine, neuter), Hindi classifies nouns only into masculine and feminine. Marathi neuter nouns, therefore, need to be translated according to the Hindi gender of the word. In the case of झाड → पेड़, it is neuter → masculine; in the case of मांजर → बिल्ली, it is neuter → feminine.
